Q. If
I send a digital photo, what resolution should it be?
A. Most digital
cameras will take a good picture on their lowest quality setting.
A resolution between 640 x 480 and 1024 x 768 will work. Anything
larger than 1024 x 768 will be too large to email. See
email photo instructions.
Q. If I need to scan my picture, what resolution
should I use?
A. Here are a few guidelines we recommend for the best
possible image transfer: the image format should be .jpg - .gif
- .tif - .psd or .bmp format. See email photo
instructions.
Don’t scan at any more than 300 dpi (dots per inch).
This a good compromise between quality and file size. Most scanning software will allow you to enlarge the image size, so
if you have a small photo and you need a 5 x 7 photo to go on a plate,
tell the software to output the 5 x 7 size. Bear in mind that
you will still lose some quality when you enlarge the photo, but by
enlarging at the time of scanning you will loose the least amount
of detail.
Q. I only have the original photo and would like it back. Is this possible?
A. You have two options:
1. Scan the picture and send us the electronic file through email.
2. Send us the original photo and we will do the rest. If you send
us the photo, it will returned unharmed with your photo keepsake.
