Stay away from pictures that have a dark background, especially if the subject has dark hair or dark clothing. Also, do not choose photos that have too much light against light, such as blond hair against a white background or a subject against a cluttered background. For example: The kids in fig. 1 blend into the gym set.

Be sure the picture you choose has the subjects close enough together so they will not be partially cut out when we crop the photo to fit the gift. Plates and clocks must be cropped into a circle. See Fig 2. The subjects just fit in the circle, but when we add a border it will cut into both people!
